Trying to slow down how quickly myopia gets worse is called myopia management.
There are a number of treatments being developed for this including specially designed contact lenses or glasses and atropine drops but not all are commonly available.
More and more research is being carried out to find out how much the myopia can be reduced and at present we are confident that there is enough evidence that myopia management contact lenses give a good enough reduction (40- 60% after 1-2 years) to recommend these for use by children when progression is likely.
